The wheels of 'Ellerman Lines' are set on electrically driven rollers, so that visitors can see it in motion as well as the valve gear going round.

Right up against the wall could be found the 18 inch gauge 'Wren', which worked the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway works. 'Wren' was built, in house, in 1887.

BR Class 55 Deltic No. 55002 'The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry' in the Great Hall. The NRM has two Deltic's in its collection, 55002 and the prototype Deltic. The prototype is currently at the NRM's outpost at Shildon.
